Workplace Learning believes it is vital that Vocational Education and Training options and Career and Pathway Planning messages get to as many students and parents/carers as possible.
Working with some great partners we are active organisers and participants in many information sharing events. Some of these are:
Illawarra Schools Careers Expo
What a huge couple of days. Workplace Learning, with the invaluable support from our sponsors, Bluescope WIN Community Partners, Uniting LAC, Apprenticeship Support Australia, Defence Force Recruitment, University of Wollongong, TAFE, Australian Brick and Block Careers and Skills Road, hosted the Illawarra Schools Careers Expo 2022 after a two year COVID-19 break. Approximately 5000 students from Illawarra and Shoalhaven high schools came through the doors to see industry and further educational opportunities, ideas and options for career choices. The expo was open to the public, Tuesday afternoon, for the first time this year, which was also a great success.
Thank you to all of the exhibitors for their attendance. And thank you our schools and teaching staff for bringing your students along. The days wouldn’t have been as successful without you
The Illawarra Schools Careers Expo provides quality school to work, education and training links, industry knowledge and information for Year 9, 10, 11 & 12 students from both Illawarra and Shoalhaven schools.
Excellence in Vocational Education and Training (VET) Awards
Workplace Learning’s Schools Excellence in VET Awards were inaugurated in 1998 to recognise, reward and promote VET and the pursuit of excellence by students completing VET subjects as part of the HSC in the Illawarra, Southern Highlands, Shoalhaven and South Coast High Schools, TAFE NSW or other Registered Training Organisations.2021 Illawarra Schools Excellence in Vocational Education & Training Awards2021 Southern Highlands Schools Excellence in Vocational Education & Training Awards
VET offers the opportunity for students to gain a well-rounded, skills based education as well as to establish links to a career. All industry sectors are dependent on encouraging young people to take up the training, education and employment pathways they offer and school-based VET is integral to young people establishing these industry links.
VET plays a vital role in building the regions skills base and in enhancing young people’s transition to the workplace. These Awards celebrate excellence in skills development and encourage young people to perform at their best in their chosen VET course.
